PRIME AREAS ในหลักสูตร EYFS คืออะไร? และสำคัญต่อพัฒนาการของเด็ก ๆ วัย Early Years อย่างไร? ผู้ปกครองน้อง ๆ วัยไม่เกิน 3 ปี ต้องทราบ!
Prime Areas คือพัฒนาการพื้นฐาน 3 ด้าน จาก 7 ด้าน ในหลักสูตร Early Years Foundation Stage หรือ EYFS ซึ่งเป็นหลักสูตรพัฒนาเด็กเล็กจากประเทศอังกฤษ โดย Prime Areas นี้คือ 3 ด้านสำคัญ ที่เป็นพื้นฐานของการต่อยอดพัฒนาการทั้งหมด ซึ่งจะมีความสำคัญเป็นพิเศษโดยเฉพาะกับเด็กวัยต่ำกว่า 3 ปีค่ะ
1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development:พัฒนาการด้านอารมณ์ บุคลิกภาพ และการเข้าสังคมหมายถึงการที่เด็ก ๆ เริ่มรู้จักและมีความรู้สึกด้านบวกต่อตัวเอง และคนอื่น ๆ รอบข้าง สามารถสร้างความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีกับเพื่อน ๆ จัดการกับอารมณ์ความรู้สึกตัวเองได้ในระดับหนึ่ง และวางตัวได้อย่างเหมาะสมเมื่อต้องเข้าสังคม เช่น รู้จักหยุดรอและนั่งฟังเพื่อน ๆ เมื่อเข้ากรุ๊ป Circle Time เป็นต้น
2. Physical Development:สดใส กระตือรือร้น และมีพัฒนาการด้านร่างกายที่เหมาะสมตามวัย หมายถึงการที่เด็ก ๆ สามารถควบคุมร่างกายให้เคลื่อนไหวได้อย่างใจอยากและสอดคล้องกัน รวมถึงเข้าใจว่าการบริหารร่างกายและการเลือกกินอาหารที่ดีต่อสุขภาพนั้นเป็นเรื่องที่ดี โดยสามารถเริ่มส่งเสริมพัฒนาการด้านนี้ได้ตั้งแต่การกิจกรรมทั่ว ๆ ไปในชีวิตประจำวัน รวมถึงการเล่น หรือการหัดทานอาหารด้วยตัวเอง ไปจนถึงการออกกำลังกายในยิมสำหรับเด็ก เพื่อพัฒนาอย่างตรงจุดด้วย
3. Communication and Languageพัฒนาการด้านการสื่อสาร และภาษา หมายถึงการที่เด็ก ๆ สามารถใช้ภาษาเพื่อสื่อสารความรู้สึกนึกคิด หรือความต้องการของตัวเองได้ และสามารถรับฟัง หรือสื่อสารเพื่อทำความเข้าใจสิ่งต่าง ๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นรอบตัว และสถานการณ์ต่าง ๆ ในชีวิตประจำวันได้ เช่นบอกได้เมื่อรู้สึกหิว ร้อน หรือเหนื่อย หรือสามารถตั้งคำถามได้ว่า อะไร? ทำไม? อย่างไร? ซึ่งพัฒนาการด้านภาษานี้ จะมีผลอย่างมากในการต่อยอดไปสู่ด้านอื่น ๆ ต่อไปค่ะ
เมื่อเข้าใจพัฒนาการของ Prime Areas ทั้งสามด้านนี้แล้ว คุณพ่อคุณแม่อย่าลืมนำไปเป็นโฟกัสในการช่วยกระตุ้นน้อง ๆ ให้เกิดการเรียนรู้รอบด้านอย่างต่อเนื่องนะคะ

What are the PRIME AREAS within the EYFS?
How are they important for children in the early years?
The PRIME AREAS are part of the 7 areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the curriculum used with young children from the UK. It includes 3 areas that are the foundation of development, especially for children under 3 years old, and are vital in enabling children to access all the other areas with ease once they are a little older.
1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development:
Develop a positive sense of themselves and others.
• To form positive relationships and develop respect for others.
• To develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings.
• To understand appropriate behaviour in groups
• To have confidence in their own abilities.
2. Physical Development: Development involves providing opportunities for young children to be active and interactive.
• To develop their coordination, control and movement
• To understand the importance of physical activity.
• To make healthy choices in relation to food.
3. Communication and Language
Development involves giving children opportunities to experience a rich language environment.
• To develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves in both their mother tongue and English.
• To speak and listen in a range of situations.
Once you understand more about the Prime Areas, remember to make them a focus in developing your child, which can be done in every aspect of their life, including your time together at home.
